The paranormal.

i know that a lot of the people on here have turned their backs on the idea of a deity deciding that god does not exist.

but what about the unseen spirit world generally such as poltergeists, jinns, voodoo, etc.

if you have become agnostic, atheist, or just don't care since leaving, do you think that there are spirits out there or have you decided that is also hokum?

Help me with this. Animals are sentient beings that can suffer and feel pain they have emotions like love and attachments.They have consciousness and perception etc.

Wouldn't they too share this phenomena and not be able to tell us or be able to let us know that something is going on that makes them behave differently.

They have a brain and a mind limited as it might be.How are we or science to explain this behavior?

For the record I have no evidence at this time of my research to accept that the physical body brain and all of its organs cease to be when death comes to it.

As to the animals I don't know. And it is ok to say "I don't know at this time." Future evidence may come along that will explain how the brain and mind work when it comes to these matters that evade us for now.

it is a place that simon wanted people to be able to come to, to receive help, support, or find a compassionate listener.. this forum has exposed the watchtower more times than any forum on the net.

Hi! Atlantis,Thanks for posting this information about some of our dear ones here.

I started posting here in 2002, as Blueblades. I miss all the other old time posters,some have moved on others have died.

When Simon made improvements on this site, I lost my password and could not sign in as Blueblades. I asked Simon to help me get back on as Blueblades, so far I have not heard back from him.

I have used other names such as Darwin,Mall Cop and my real name which I use now.

A little information.I lived in Brooklyn close to the headquarter of the Watchtower. I was close to a number of anointed and governing body member back then. I served in a number of positions also as a slave for 33 years. 1969 to 2002.

Recently, I had open heart surgery and was given a Bovine aortic valve, then a loop recorder and four months ago a Pacemaker.

I am now 73 years old doing ok as long as I keep taking my meds .My wife and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. We have two sons and three grandsons.

Thank You for all your topics you have posted. I read them all, however I don't always respond to topics that I read by so many members here.

Take good care of yourself as we are all growing old, where as the time gone. I thought we would be on a paradise earth with our families by now. Oh well,we never did get to have that "CARROT" that ensnared millions of us back in the day.

did you know?the 1st case heard by the supreme court of the united states concerning the watchtower society involved a director (an officer) of the watchtower, william franklyn hudgings.. a brief description of hudgings and his character.hudgings was an attorney, quack doctor, self-identified ‘scientist’, a pro-zionist, and religious enthusiast who over the years held various director and officer positions in the watchtower society, and the affiliated people's pulpit association and international bible students association.

at the time of this particular case, william hudgings acknowledged being the corporate secretary of the people's pulpit association and acknowledged that his daily duties included the administrative charge of printing of the watchtower magazine, the bible student's monthly, the kingdom news, and other watchtower publications.. (hudgings was also re-elected to the watchtower society board of directors in january 1919.

Terry, Excellent, outstanding history lesson. It reminds me of Don Cameron's Captives of a Concept page 45,those who do a history study of the watchtower don't ask for a Bible study later.

However,page 127 informs teaching Watchtower history is not easy for Jehovah's Witnesses for a couple of reasons...1.They have not studied it themselves. 2. There isn't any program set up for them to teach it.

This is how I and millions like me became a watchtower slave for 33 years! O how I wish I took the time to study their history back in 1969.

Like Don wrote and you have shown here, what did we know back then?It is persons like you who take the time to show us this history now that I am sure is helping many on this site to share your hard work and time for us to others.

With all due respect to all your hard work. This discussion from the Bible is meaningless and moot. This not an attack on you. It is about the issue of the bibical material being used as if it actually is the word of god.

Which many persons including myself believe it is the writings of men.Historically it has been proven that the bible is not from god. Hence,the reason I say that anyone using it is meaningless and moot.

However for those that do believe and can prove that belief, that the bible is actually from god to themselves than you have made a great effort to help them understand the one and only belief of the heavenly hope for them.

I only wish that I could be part of that belief but i am convinced otherwise.

Well Mini, you and I use to have some good chats back in the day,2002 forward. You remember me as your friend Blueblades.

Then Simon changed the site and I lost my password and had to sign on as Darwin, then Mall cop etc. So now I am who I am Charles Gillette.

Elvis is my favorite performer. Military Army guy, Movies, Concerts records etc. I grew up with his music.

The watchtower took that away for some time. Anyway we had some good discussions back in 2002 under Blueblades.

I asked Simon if I could get my Blueblades back on the site when he changed it and was very busy, so I understand why he could not do it. So here I am now. I missed you and all the old timers that passed away since those days. Yes I wonder where the rest are now too many to mention here. I appreciate all that are here now. I read many posts and comment on few.

I was a watchtower slave for 33 years 1969 thru 2002. I am 73 years old now.

As Terry pointed out kindness, empathy and listening I think is the way now. And yet I understand where Dawkins is coming from.
